FROZEN PIPES
If you experience little or no water flow during the colder months, frozen pipes may be the culprit. When pipes are exposed to cold air, the water inside those pipes may start to freeze. As water freezes, it expands. Once there is no room left for expansion, the pipe may burst, leaving you with a mess to clean up.
When you notice that no water comes out when you turn on a faucet, call Beyond Restoration Plumbing right away! It is important that you do not attempt to thaw the pipes yourself, as this poses the risk of electrocution and could cause additional damage to your pipes. Our experts have advanced procedures to handle frozen pipes and will take care of the problem quickly.
To prevent pipes from freezing, our plumbing experts offer the following tips:
• Never turn the heat completely off in your home during colder months. Always set your thermostat at a minimum of 60 degrees, even when you will be away from your home for a while.
• If you will be leaving your home for a long stretch and the temperatures are expected to be cold, you might also consider shutting off the main water valve to your home.
